The earliest known, 1950’s School Photograph of two of the Beatles, George & Paul. I will also pack your antiques and offers courier & hotel service and will value your prize possessions as well as preparing the paper work/Insurance/Bill of Lading etc.

After trading for some years from my home in Chester, John Nolan opened my first shop in the mid 1960s in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead (England). By 1970 I had shops both in the cities of Liverpool and Manchester. In 1976 I opened his first of many locations in Atlanta Georgia in The Omni and at Colony Square moving in to the Head Quarters for Jimmy Carter US President. Then I opened my 20,000 square foot Peachtree Road showrooms, warehouse and Auction House.  This became a landmark for antiques in the South.

Atlanta Georgia became the hub for the sales side of the business with shops also on Roswell Road and my Interior Design Centre in two locations on Miami Circle. I even had a location in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The City of Liverpool became the location of  my Export Division , this was located within what is now called the Triangle . Guildford became the hub for the South.  Ipswich London and Brighton for the export side of my  Reproduction antique manufacture.

From 1983 to 2000 I took on the major restoration program in the Lancashire Village of Halsall. An historical as well as picturesque village, steeped in history. The Manor, The Hall, (winning a prestigious prize with the Lancashire Council) Coach House and Tithe Barn have been painstakingly restored to its original glory. 15 houses have now been completed in the gated community of Halsall Manor. This is the home of the famous Halsall Penny and the Spinning Jenny. These buildings are all now a listed as Grade 2. The person for instigating famous Leeds to Liverpool Canal, the Mayor of Liverpool and many Knights has lived on the estate dating back to 1065.

The Southport Antique Centre and The China Shop, China Outlet and The Antique Department where all opened in Southport England between 2000-2005. In 2013 I moved to new premises at 6 and 8 Portland Street, Southport PR8 1JU which is now my head quarters.

I have also had my own spot on Radio Show where I talked about the unusual stories related to antique items. THE SERENDIPITY WORLD OF JOHN NOLAN.

Antiques Consignment

Now in my mid 70’s and fit as I was in my youth I have decided to start a new business. A Family Business, called ANTIQUE CONSIGNMENT.

My reason…… I say,  that the public is being totally ripped off by the Auction House Cartel system of charging. The Auction House charges both parties, that is the seller and the buyer a premium ranging from 10% to 25% each. This amounts, when you do the mathematical edition to the Auction house receiving 20% to 50% commission + Lot fee, photograph, insurance, storage, and collection charges. I just cannot understand how an Auction House can represent both parties in a legal agreement.  If you represent the buyer your job as an Auction  Agent would be to buy the item for a figure as low as possible. If you represent the seller your job would be to sell the item for the highest amount.

www.theantiquestrade.com  ANTIQUE CONSIGNMENT will only charge 5% when the item has sold and a £5 charge for the initial consigned item. This is fresh air to the seller and music to the ear of the buyer.

One thing that annoys me about companies operating on the internet is the lack of personal contact. No address, No phone Number. With Me I even divulge my personal direct line phone number and my home address. Remember, I am so passionate about antiques. I do not sell them for their worth, just more than I paid for them.

Now you do have a friend in the Antique Trade.
